About Commercial Mixing Tools

Jun 15

Commercial kitchens depend on a mixer to combine ingredients for recipes such as pizza dough and cake batter. Power mixers help reduce food prep time by quickly blending light products and eliminating the need for multiple bowls.

IBC tote mixers allow you to mix the contents of closed-top chemical containers. USABlueBook tote mixers mount onto IBC tote lids and include a removable Easy Mixing tool.

Tote Mixers

IBC tote mixers are a convenient way to mix paint, food, chemicals, pharmaceuticals and more in intermediate bulk containers. They work by pumping up liquid that's dropped down, ensuring an even mix across all corners of the container. This design also cuts down on the time it takes to mix liquids by eliminating the need for creating a vortex.

These mixers are ideal for industrial applications and come in a variety of mounting styles to suit your specific needs. Some mount styles fit directly onto a tote's lid opening, while others can be used with a flange mounted on the top of a tote tank.

IBC tote mixers from Even MixTM feature unique patented blade technology that ensures an even distribution of materials throughout your IBC totes. The blades fold to easily insert through a 6-inch opening and then unfold inside to mix the contents. The 316 stainless steel shaft and propeller fold up to fit into the IBC's lid and are chemical compatible.

Intermediate Bulk Containers (IBC) Totes

IBC totes are cube shaped and sized to fit on a standard pallet for shipment, storage, and maneuverability. They have a fixed base mount that enables them to be lifted and moved with forklifts or pallet jacks. They are a practical alternative to drums for handling and transporting liquids, powders, or gases.

Stainless steel metal IBCs are a rugged, durable container for storing and transporting bulk liquids. They are sanitary and easy to clean and sanitize, making them a more efficient shipping container than traditional round drums.

Chemical IBCs can be used to transport corrosive, toxic, or volatile chemicals such as acids, caustics, detergents, oxidizers, and ag crop chemicals. They are UN/DOT approved shipping containers with a permit label, and they meet UL 142 and ASME pressure standards and NFPA 30 fire codes for up to Class IB combustible fuels. They also have large 22" bolt-and-clamp manways, a 3" fusible vent/cap in the center lid, and top-located lifting eyelets.

Mini Bulk Pump Mixers

These mixers are lightweight and compact, making them easy to transport from job to job. This allows a single operator to take the mixer to the drum/tote instead of having to transport the drum to a larger stationary mixing system.

LPDM mixers are designed to accept the bulk solids, silica, and two liquids through ports located on the side of the mixer barrel's inside diameter. The tolerance between the LPDM screw flights and mixer barrels inside diameter determine the amount of compression, shear, and transfer a mixture experiences as it moves through the mixer.

The mixers are c-clamped or threaded into the bung opening of a drum or tote, or can be mounted using special brackets that attach to the flange mount on a tote or tank. Typically, the mixers are angled 10 to 15 degrees off-center or on-center to achieve effective mixing patterns. The LPDM mixers have a built-in slurry pump and slurry vacuum system that aid in dispersing the mixture.

Stand Mixers

A stand mixer is an essential tool for any commercial kitchen. From mixing cakes, doughs and meringues to whisked eggs and mashed potatoes, the possibilities are endless. The best stand mixers are versatile and powerful enough to tackle all the tasks in a busy kitchen.

This 5.5-quart Cuisinart mixer is an excellent choice for a small or medium kitchen. It performed well during our testing, including a successful cake batter mix, a good whip and beating test, and impressive kneading of bread dough. Its motor is a bit less powerful than those in higher-priced models, but we don't think this is a deal-breaker for buyers.

Unlike hand mixers, stand mixers are upright, so you can work hands-free while the beaters do the heavy lifting. A dough hook can knead even the thickest of recipes, and it can save you lots of messy hand-mixing time. Add in a grain mill attachment to turn whole grains into fresh flour for baking (and make your food taste better, too). Some stand mixers have appliance ports that allow you to attach tools like meat grinders and ice cream makers.
